Ed's Story

I became interested in music at a young age. My older brother Tom was an inspiration; his singing, writing and guitar work inspired me to find my own voice…literally. I joined choir in 7th grade and stuck with it through high school. Another older brother, Chuck, bought me my first guitar around 1975. Ever since then, I’ve loved playing and singing.

In 1998, while stationed with the Army at Fort Huachuca, Arizona, I was playing in another band when our bass player quit. The drummer and founder of the band asked if I would mind trying to play bass. I said, “How hard could it be?” Of course, playing bass is one thing but becoming proficient and creative with it is another thing entirely! I bought a cheap bass and amp and started listing…really listening…to all the great rock bassists of the past and I quickly realized how incredible they were and just how important the bass guitar is to rock music.

Since that first attempt at bass guitar, I have continued to learn as much as I can about the instrument. I’ve played in several bands in southeastern Arizona throughout the years and have grown to love the creative freedom one can experience in a rock trio with such great musicians as Andrew and Steve (Styx).
